Chondria dasyphylla (Woodward) C. Agardh
Description: Cylindrical brown-red fronds, to 300 mm long. Main axis simple, (sometimes once forked), lateral branches irregular, shortening towards apex so that frond looks pyramidal, themselves bearing branchlets. Ultimate ramuli short, patent, truncate with narrowed bases. Axis of central siphon with 5 pericentral siphond, surrounded by several layers of corticating cells which diminish towards outside, outermost small, rounded, coloured. Articulations visible in younger parts. A delicate species, tending to disintergrate rapidly following collection.
