Asperococcus fistulosus (Hudson) W.J.Hooker


Description: Thallus light to medium brown, simple, membranous, hollow, terete, usually 10–30 cm long and 3–10 mm in diameter, tapering slightly to the apex and gradually to the small, discoid, rhizoidal, holdfast 100–300 µm across; epiphytic on Fucus serratus and other larger algae, mostly in late spring and summer.
Habitat: Epiphytic on older plants of Fucus and other brown algae, mid-intertidal pools, and lower intertidal.
Key characteristics: Brown and tubular.
